Privacy Policy
Centtavo LLC
Effective date: October 11, 2026
Last updated: October 29, 2026
This policy explains what Centtavo LLC ("Centtavo", "we", "us") collects on centtavo.com, in the Centtavo app and in our coaching sessions, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. We are a small personal-finance coaching business run by two people from Florida. We work with people anywhere in the United States.
The short version
- Our calculators collect nothing. Every calculator on this site (the sliders at the top of the home page, the debt calculator, the "Try it" cards and the net worth forecaster) runs entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent to us or anyone else, is not saved, and is gone when you close the tab.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. We pass it only to the service providers described below, so they can do their work for us.
- No advertising trackers, no cookies, and nothing that follows you to other websites on centtavo.com. We count visits and measure how fast our pages load, through our website host only, and see only totals (see 7). Our fonts are served from our own site, and nothing loads from another company until you open the booking calendar (see 1).
- We keep things briefly: questions for 30 days, booking details and email for 6 months, client records for 90 days after our last session, except billing records, which we keep for 7 years for tax purposes. The full schedule is below.
- The Centtavo app keeps what you and your household enter, for as long as your account is open. Its assistant is off until you turn it on; once it's on, the app sends our AI provider what it needs to answer you. See 5, and 6 to delete your account.
- We collect only what we need to book a call, answer a question, or coach you, and we tell you below who processes it for us.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time: hello@centtavo.com.
What we collect, why, and how long we keep it
1. When you book a free call
- What: your name and email address, the language you'd like for the call, and, if you choose to give them, the topics you'd like to work on, anything you'd like us to know, how you found us, and a partner's email address if you're bringing one (our scheduling service sends them the invitation). Also the date and time you pick and your time zone. Your answers are also copied into our calendar event and the confirmation emails.
- Why: to schedule and hold the call, and to prepare for it.
- Who processes it: our scheduling service, which also hosts the video call, and our calendar and email provider. Calls are not recorded.
- The booking calendar's cookies: the booking calendar is our scheduling service's page, shown inside ours. When you open it, that service uses its own cookies and browser storage to run the booking and keep it secure, and may send error reports to its own providers. If you open the booking page on the service's own website, it may also set a cookie that records how you arrived there. These belong to the scheduling service and fall under its privacy policy, which its booking page links to; we don't receive them.
- Kept: if you don't become a client, we delete the booking from the scheduling service, our calendar and our email within 6 months after the call.
2. When you use the question box
- What: your question and your email address, so we can reply. Optionally: how you found us, and whether you agree to let us publish your question anonymously with our answer. Our website host also records, with each submission, your IP address, your browser type and the page you sent it from.
- No name needed: we don't ask for your name. We can see your email address, so the question isn't anonymous to us, but your email is never published.
- Why: to answer your question and, only if you tick the box, to publish it anonymously.
- Who processes it: our website host receives and stores form submissions, and checks each one with a spam-filtering service.
- Publishing: we publish only if you opt in. Before publishing we remove or change anything that could identify you (names, places, employers, exact amounts, unusual details), and we may shorten or edit your question. We never publish your email address. If you change your mind, email us and we will take it down.
- Kept: deleted from our website host within 30 days of our reply, with the technical details recorded with it. We also get a copy of each question by email, which we delete on the same schedule. A published, de-identified question stays up until you or we remove it.
3. When you email us (hello@centtavo.com)
- What: whatever you choose to send, plus your email address.
- Who processes it: our email provider.
- Kept: deleted 6 months after our last contact, unless you are a client (see 4).
4. If you become a coaching client
- What: notes from our sessions, scheduling details, billing records, and, once we add it, an intake form (rough income, expenses, debts, savings and investments, goals). We ask for round figures only. We will never ask for bank or card account numbers, Social Security numbers, or passwords to your financial accounts. Please don't send them.
- Why: to coach you: to understand your situation, build your plan and track progress.
- Who processes it: our scheduling service hosts our video sessions, which are not recorded. Payments go through a payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
- The Centtavo app: if you use it, see 5.
- Kept: for as long as you are a client, then deleted within 90 days of our last session. Billing records (your name, what you paid and when) are the exception: tax law requires us to keep them, and we keep them for 7 years. The payment processor keeps its own payment records, as the law requires of it.
5. If you use the Centtavo app
The app runs at app.centtavo.com and on iPhone and Android. For now, you can only join by invitation.
- What:
- Your account: your email address, a display name you choose, and a password, which is stored only in a form that can't be read back. Your language (English or Español) is saved with your account, so it follows you to other devices.
- Your household: its name, and each member's display name, avatar and colour.
- What you and your household enter: income and spending (date, amount, category, description, who paid), budgets, savings goals, starting balances, net worth figures, and messages to the assistant. A household that keeps a business ledger can also add bills, and receipts as photos or files.
- The app doesn't connect to your bank. Everything in it was entered by someone in your household, typed in or imported from a file or photo. Please don't enter account numbers, Social Security numbers or passwords.
- Your IP address when you sign in, used to protect sign-in from abuse.
- Why: to run the app for you and your household, and to answer the questions you ask its assistant.
- Who sees it: everyone in your household sees all of the household's data, including the assistant chat. The exception is a private chat (the lock at the top of the assistant): only you see it, Centtavo doesn't save it, and it ends when you close it. Entries the assistant adds from it are shared like any other. Members see each other's display names, but not email addresses. Your household's data is private to your household: we access it only with your written permission to fix a problem with your data.
- The assistant: it's off until you turn it on for yourself. The app asks where the assistant is used (the chat and Home's insight card), and turning it on also lets the app read a photo or a statement you import, a receipt you choose to read or, in a business ledger, a bill. It stays off for everyone else in your household until they turn it on. You can turn it off at any time from the avatar menu ("Assistant"), and it stops straight away.
- What it sends: to answer, the app sends our AI provider your message and the household's last few chat messages, with members' names (in a private chat, that chat's last few messages instead); the household's entries, trackers, savings goals, pay schedule, starting balance and net worth figures; and a photo, statement, receipt or bill only when you import or read one. It never sends passwords, bank logins or email addresses.
- What our AI provider does with it: it uses it only to answer and doesn't use it to train its AI models. Our AI provider deletes what we send it within 30 days. In rare cases, a request its automated safety checks flag as possible misuse, or one the law requires it to keep, may be kept for up to 2 years.
- Centtavo's copy: we save your chats so your household can see them, except private chats, which aren't saved.
- Importing: a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) or a bank download (OFX or QFX) you import is read on your own device and isn't sent to us. A photo of a notebook page, or a bank or card statement as a PDF, is read by the assistant, so it needs the assistant on: it's sent to our AI provider only to read the money lines or the statement's transactions, and Centtavo doesn't store it. With a statement, the app also sends the ledger's category names and, in a business ledger, its owners' first names, so it can suggest a category and spot an owner putting money in or taking it out. From a statement, the app keeps only the date, amount, description and kind of each transaction you bring in, never account or card numbers, balances, or the name and address on it. Either way, only the entries you check and bring in are saved.
- Reading a receipt: when you choose Read a receipt, the photo is sent to our AI provider, with your household's list of spending categories, only to read the store, date and total and suggest one of those categories, so it needs the assistant on. Centtavo doesn't store or log the photo: only the entry you check and add is saved.
- Speaking to the assistant (iPhone and Android apps): when you tap the microphone in the assistant, your phone turns what you say into text with its own on-device speech recognition. The audio stays on your phone: Centtavo never receives or keeps it. The text is sent to the assistant and kept exactly like a message you type. The phone asks for permission to use the microphone (and, on iPhone, speech recognition) the first time you tap it.
- Who processes it: our hosting and database providers (sign-in, your household's data and receipt files), an email-delivery service (your sign-up and password-reset codes) and an AI provider (the assistant, including reading photos, statements, receipts and bills). The website version of the app loads its fonts from a font service, which receives your IP address; the iPhone and Android apps don't.
- On your phone: the app keeps a copy of your household's data on the device so it works without a connection; signing out removes it. The optional Face ID or fingerprint lock stays on your phone. The app asks for the camera or your photos only when you add or read a receipt or import a notebook page. It shows no ads, uses no analytics, and doesn't track you or ask for your location or contacts.
- Kept: for as long as your account is open. Entries you delete are erased after 90 days. A deleted household can be restored for 30 days, and then everything in it is erased.
6. Deleting your Centtavo app account
- In the app: open the menu under your name, choose Delete my account…, and enter your password to confirm. It's the same in the iPhone and Android apps and on the web: without the phone app, sign in at app.centtavo.com and do the same. Your account is deleted straight away.
- By email: if you can't sign in, email hello@centtavo.com from the address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my Centtavo account". We'll confirm, and delete it within 30 days.
- What's deleted: your sign-in details (your email address and password) and your membership of your household. Every device signed in to your account is signed out, and the one you deleted from forgets the household.
- What stays: if others stay in your household, the entries and receipts you added stay in the household's shared budget, under your display name, because they're part of the others' records too.
- If you're the last member: the household goes too, and everything in it is erased within 30 days. The app offers to export a copy first.
- A household's owner can also delete the household in the app. It can be restored for 30 days, and then everything in it is erased.
7. Technical information, visit counts and page speed
When you visit centtavo.com, our website host automatically receives technical information that every website receives: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the page you came from. It uses this to deliver the page and keep the site secure, keeps these logs for less than 30 days, and this can't be switched off.
- Visit counts: our host also adds up these logs for us into totals: how often each page was viewed, which websites sent visitors, and which addresses weren't found. We see only the totals, never a list of visitors or their IP addresses.
- Page speed: as a page loads, a small script from our host measures how quickly it appeared and responded, and sends those timings to our host with the page's address, your operating system, browser and screen size. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We see only the overall figures, to find pages that load slowly.
We don't use any of this to identify or track you.
The calculators
The sliders at the top of the home page, the debt calculator, the "Try it" cards and the net worth forecaster do their maths in your browser. Nothing you type into them is sent to us, stored, or shared, and they set no cookies and use no storage in your browser. If you want to discuss your results, you'll need to tell us yourself.
Who we share information with
Only the kinds of service providers described above, and only so they can do their job for us:
| Service provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Website host | The website and the app; the question box; visit counts and page speed |
| Spam filtering | Checks question-box submissions for spam |
| Scheduling | Booking, and our video calls |
| Email and calendar | Our email and calendar |
| Payment processor | Payments |
| Database | The app's sign-in, data and receipt files |
| Email delivery | The app's sign-up and password-reset emails |
| AI provider | The app's assistant, including reading photos, statements, receipts and bills |
| Font service | Fonts for the app's website version |
Each provider handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. Some, such as spam filters, may also use what they receive to improve their own service. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or to enforce our agreements. If Centtavo is ever sold or merged, we would tell you first, and this policy would continue to apply to your information.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or let anyone else track you across websites through our site.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We don't track visitors across websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We treat every visitor as if one were turned on. No third party collects information about your activity across websites through centtavo.com.
How we protect it
We limit access to the two of us. We use accounts protected by multi-factor authentication, use providers that encrypt data in transit, collect as little as possible, and delete data on the schedule above. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can email hello@centtavo.com to:
- ask what information we have about you;
- correct it;
- delete it, including your booking details, questions and intake form, or your app account (see 6);
- take down a question we published; and
- stop receiving any email from us.
We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm it's you, for example by replying from the email address we have on file. Some records we must keep by law (such as billing records for taxes); if so, we'll tell you what and why.
Newsletter: if we ever send one, it will only go to people who sign up, and every email will have a working unsubscribe link.
Florida residents
We are based in Florida and follow Florida's data security law, including notifying you if a breach affects your personal information. We do not sell personal data, including sensitive data.
California residents
California law (CalOPPA) requires us to tell you:
- the categories of information we collect and who we share it with (see above);
- how to review and correct it (email us);
- how we respond to Do Not Track signals (see above); and
- how we tell you about changes (see below).
Other states
If your state gives you additional privacy rights, email us and we'll honor them as required.
Children
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and our site is not directed to children. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new "last updated" date. If a change is significant, such as a new kind of data or a new use of it, we'll tell clients by email before it takes effect.
